Volunteer Elliott Steck Earns Eagle Scout Award

Four young Lake Oswegans recently have earned the highest honor offered by the Boy Scouts of America: the Eagle Scout Award. Among them is one of our Springbrook Park volunteers: Elliott Steck.

Steck, a junior at Thomas Edison High School in Portland, has earned an Eagle Scout award with his volunteer work at Springbrook Park

Steck, a junior at Thomas Edison High School in Portland, is a member of Boy Scout Troop 432 in Lake Grove. Steck’s project involved reducing the spread of garlic mustard by adding boot scrapers to four Springbrook Park entrances, accompanied by colored panels with information and photos. Steck raised $850 to buy the materials with support from the community. Steck is active on the dive team at Thomas Edison, said Paul Lyons, Friends of Springbrook Park founding and current board member.
